6 Ways to Show Your Team Some Love

We’re always looking for an excuse to celebrate with our team and show everyone a little love. We’ve gone several different directions—fun, sentimental, personal, over-the-top— and have settled into the perfect balance (which is a little of all four!). From simple gestures to big moves, here’s how you can show your team that you appreciate them and everything they do.

1. Be in Their Corner

Invest in your team’s success—both personally and professionally. Support their ideas, amplify their voices in meetings, and give them opportunities to learn and grow. Whether it is interested in an area outside of their current job description or a personal blog that highlights their passion, understanding your team members builds confidence and keeps morale high.

2. Boost Their Bottom Line

Integral to the IDR culture, we believe in showing our employees love through investment in their financial future. IDR offers an ESOP, an Employee Stock Ownership Program that gives vested employees and contractors a piece of the company profits, in addition to the traditional 401k. Learn more about our ESOP here.

3. Take the Fun Off-Site

Sometimes, the best team-building happens outside the office. We spend a hefty amount of time at work, but we don’t work 24/7. Plus, we like to have fun! You can often find us at one of these cool experiences: Escape room, bowling alley, laser tag, Top Golf, lake cruises, beach days, BBQs, and more. Check out our 2024 recap for these events!

4. Speak the Love Language of Food

Let’s face it: Food brings people together. Treat your team to catered lunches, surprise snack breaks, or coffee-and-donut mornings. Whether it’s a casual pizza day or a fancy dinner outing, sharing a meal is a simple yet meaningful way to show your appreciation.

5. Create Opportunities to Give Back

Empower your team to make a difference in the community. Every year, IDR partners with St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital to raise money for the life-saving work they do to end childhood cancer. The opportunity to participate in a meaningful event like the St. Jude Walk/Run offers an invaluable sense of personal fulfillment and joy you can’t get behind a desk.

6. Offer the Gift of Quality Time

Going to lunch with the boss, initiating a casual chat, listening when they talk… all of these add up to an investment of something irreplaceable: quality time. It’s the perfect gift of love that says “I see you” to our hard-working team members.
